Puget's Crew

A community and a blog for soccer fans in deep South Sound

With the talk last year of the US possibly playing the Catalonian National Team and all of the locals coming back talk for the new Sounders FC, it seemed interesting to put together a player pool and starting line-up for a Cascadian National Soccer Team.

Cascadia in this case refers to players from Idaho, Alaska, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. Here's more information on the Republic of Cascadia.

Anyway, here's my raw links to players and the folks I could find divided up by position and a proposed lineup.

I used a straight up 4-4-2, though because of the player pool a 4-3-3 might have been more appropriate. We seem to be very deep at keeper (Keller, Hahnemann, and Eylander) and forward, and fairly deep at defender. There seemed to be a dearth of midfielders.

That's not to say I caught everyone. So, I need your help. If you know I missed someone, tag them in del.icio.us with the tag cascadia_soccer. I've subscribed to the feed, so I'll see the new players coming through.

And, please, put together your own line-up and tell me what your logic is. I basically balanced experience overall with top level play and appearances with a national team. Here's my proposed lineup:

Keller

Prideaux --Waibel-- Cochrane-- CJ Brown

Gregor -- Simpson-- Brown-- Clarke

Jaqua-- Barrett
